Laura's Story
Married and raised 3 children. Worked in high tech for 37 years, transferred a few times with my husband's company.
Retired and waited another couple years for my husband to do the same. We retired up in Oregon and love it! Made some good friends and enjoy the life style...."less" being the important part of our life. Less traffic, less congestion and it all equates to slower and quieter. Downsizing was a three year process for me and I've gotten pretty good at maintaining the fewer of everything.
We have two adult grandchildren 24 & 27 and two in So.Calif. 8 & 9 years old. Plus two great granddaughters 18months old and a 3 year old who live near us in town. We both traveled with our jobs, my husband extensively so air travel anywhere now is not a part of our...Expand for more
lives. We love getting into the car and driving to destinations. We are involved in the Boys & Girls Club here in town. The wineries are everywhere and between our home in Jacksonville there are 38 tasting rooms. We have not begun to taste all of them. Retirement took a bit of getting use to but it is very nice to have no meetings, conference calls etc.
We went down to the Bay Area for my husband's "mini high school reunion" in Aug. neither one of us have been back for ours until then. Richard took some heat for never showing up for over 50 years. He was a Sunnyvale High guy.
We will have our 50th wedding anniversary in a few months....where does the time go??
It's been decades for me as a breast cancer survivor. Need to exercise more and keep things moving.
